Welcome to Drift, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque landscape of North Berwick. Located at Sands Drift, just outside the bustling town, this charming café offers stunning views, delightful eats, and a warm atmosphere that is hard to resist. With its scenic backdrop overlooking The Bass Rock, Drift creates an ideal setting for those seeking both relaxation and culinary satisfaction.

As you step inside, you'll immediately appreciate the lively ambiance and the friendliness of the staff. Many guests, like Julie Ross, rave about the engaging atmosphere and recommend booking in advance — a wise choice for those wanting to indulge in the magical vibes of this coastal haven. The café's charm doesn't just come from its location; the menu is a culinary treat, featuring a delightful selection of sweet and savory options.

The bakery menu is a highlight, presenting an array of enticing cakes such as the rich Chocolate Guinness Cake, zesty Lemon Drizzle Cake, and the delightful Carrot Cake. Each one is priced at a modest £3.35, making it easy to treat yourself to a slice of happiness. For those who appreciate a well-crafted drink, the coffee menu boasts a variety of options, including the classic Americano or the creamy Flat White. Guests have found these beverages to be the perfect companions to their sweet treats, as noted by Kirsty Morris, who enjoyed both the cake selection and the captivating views.

While Drift excels in offering a lovely array of baked goods, the versatility of its menu does not go unnoticed. From hearty breakfasts and enticing lunches to a delightful selection of traybakes, there’s something for everyone to savor.

Even if you opt to sit outside, the experience remains enjoyable with a different menu that still offers plenty to choose from. Wei Fan describes the vibe as “chilled” and a perfect way to unwind while enjoying a Reuben sandwich and a walk along the stunning coastal path. With the option to arrive without a car via bus 120, Drift is accessible to all, whether you're a local or just visiting the area.

In essence, Drift is a celebration of good food, amazing views, and a friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re there to sip on a great British cuppa or indulge in a slice of seasonal dairy-free cake, this café promises to deliver an experience that lingers far beyond your visit. Stunning views. Very lively little cafe. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Good food. Best to book in advance but some tables are available for walk ins

Great cakes and even better views. Lovely selection of baking. In a beautiful location just outside of North Berwick. Think it would be beautiful even on a stormy day. Didn’t get to try the breakfasts + lunch but it looked fab getting taken past

Fantastic views and great food. Didn’t have quite what I was after on the menu but the staff were very flexible to change a dish to make it suit! Very much appreciated

Fantastic place to dine and enjoy the stunning view out to The Bass Rock. It does get busy so recommend you book. An early morning breakfast is a true delight in this magical place

What a vibe!!! So chilled and beautiful place to sit and relax. The staff was really nice! We didn’t book a table (best to book) but they managed to find us a table and changed us a bigger table when it got available. The food was amazing! Reuben sandwiches. Yum!!! Be mindful that sitting outside has a different menu, but still looks a big menu to choose from. Afterwards, we walked for an hour along the coast to get back to North Berwick. So for those who want to come without a car, feel free to take bus 120 or walk.

Situated at the edge of the cliff top that provides breathtaking views of the Bass Rock, the cafe offers a lovely selection of brunch, lunch and desserts. While seating is limited, it's a must-visit spot in North Berwick. Reservations are highly recommended!
